Dominic Serpico

Dominic developed his interest in pottery while a student at Lewisburg High School in DeSoto County, MS. By the time he was 18, his art was already taking new directions and exploding traditional forms. A sampling of his work won a three-state competition and was selected for exhibition at the Brooks Museum of Art in Memphis, after which, it was shown in New York as part of the national competition. After this selection, he was offered a scholarship to The Memphis College of Art, which he declined in order to pursue a math major/art minor at Mississippi State University, where he recently graduated. While at Mississippi State, he developed more in-depth processes with his ceramice, learning the chemical effects of his own glazes, exploring new styles and receiving multiple scholarships. Some of these scholarships paid for his potter's wheel, portions of his tuition and for a stay at an artists' community in South Carolina.

His work has been exhibited at the university's gallery and in South Carolina, and a couple of his pieces were purchased for permanent display in the private gallery at Mississippi State.
